How to Get Known as the Expert in Your Niche

When you get really good at becoming known as the expert in your niche, your business will start to grow on autopilot. If you’re not feeling like an expert yet, check out The Difference Between An Amateur and an Expert.

When I first became an entrepreneur, I was just talking to people in my niche about my niche. I didn’t have full products to sell or anything like that, but I started to notice that I was getting recommended by people across the web (by a lot of people that I hadn’t even helped!).

And what’s great is — it’s not that hard to get known for your “thing”. Here’s three areas you need to focus and expand on in order to build credibility around your niche and get your audience to trust you enough to hire you!

Your Mindset

The first step in implementing this strategy is having an abundant mindset. Strategy is important, but you won’t get the results you need without the mindset first. You can’t go into business worried about the “saturation” of the market, what your competitors are doing or worrying about what other people will think of you. Remember that —

There is no one like you and there is no one doing it like you.

There are billions of people, and the people you want to serve are WAITING for you.

Understand Your People

The second step in implementing this strategy is to know your people. And I mean really know your people. You have to know everything about them, on a deep level.

What are their desires?
What are their challenges?
What do they love?
What do they hate?
Do they have a family?
What’s their job?
What other influencers do they follow?

And you don’t just want to guess at these things. You want to know. Get on phone calls, post in your Facebook group, and ASK. And then take all of that information and use it as “data” to inform all of your future content.

Speak to Your People

The third and final step in implementing this strategy is speaking directly to your people. Anytime you create content, whether it’s for social media, your blog, your email list — you have to be speaking directly to your ideal client.

When we create content for our people, you build a connection where people feel like you truly understand them. They start knowing, liking, and trusting you. They start referring people that are like them to you, even if you’ve never helped them before.

This is how your business will start to organically grow. You start gaining traction by speaking to that specific person. If you feel like that’s limiting your business, it doesn’t. Trying to speak to everyone means you’re speaking to no one. Getting specific is the best way to get known as the expert in your niche.
